CAUSES OF NECK PAIN:

WHAT IS THE MOST COMMON CAUSE OF NECK PAIN?
Once we have ruled out any underlying disease or problem, the most common cause of neck pain is mechanical in nature. Meaning the joints of the spine are not moving as freely as they are designed to. This causes pain locally, can contribute to spinal degeneration, muscle spasms, building discs, and irritation of the nerves surrounding the neck.
Poor posture and spinal alignment are the most common cause of neck pain. Poor alignment places unnecessary pressure on the joints of the cervical (neck) spine.
HOW TO FIX NECK PAIN:
There are two ways in which you can choose to deal with neck pain.
1. Continually treat the pain and symptoms as they appear:
The most common way people will treat the pain associated with the neck is with medications, such as; paracetamol or Ibuprofen or other ‘quick fix’ therapies.
Opting for a ‘quick fix’ approach to neck problems, while ignoring the underlying cause may help you feel better in the short term, however your problem is likely to return. This approach can lead to vicious cycles of pain and dysfunction and potentially lead to chronic pain.
2. Correcting the cause:
Chiropractic is concerned with correcting the underlying cause of neck pain, which is poor posture or poor spinal alignment.
