HOW DO MIGRAINES PRESENT:
Pain on one side or both sides of the head, throbbing or pulsating sensation, visual disturbances, sensitivity to light (photophobia), sensitivity to sound (phonophobia), nausea and vomiting, lightheadedness and fatigue.

WHAT IS THE MOST COMMON CAUSE OF MIGRAINES?
Once we have ruled out any underlying disease or problem, the most common cause of migraines are mechanical in nature. Meaning the joints of the spine are not moving as freely as they are designed to, in particular the joints in the neck (cervical spine). This causes pain locally, can contribute to spinal degeneration, muscle spasms, building discs, and irritation of the nerves surrounding the neck.
The added pressure around the neck due to these postural changes, can cause tension and pressure on nerves of the head, resulting in debilitating pain.
HOW TO FIX MIGRAINES:
There are two ways in which you can choose to deal with migraines.
1. Continually treat the pain and symptoms as they appear:
The most common way people will treat the pain associated with migraines is with medications, such as; paracetamol or Ibuprofen or other ‘quick fix’ therapies.
Opting for a ‘quick fix’ approach to migraines, while ignoring the underlying cause may help you feel better in the short term, however your headache is likely to return. This approach can lead to vicious cycles of pain and dysfunction and potentially lead to chronic case of headaches.
2. Correcting the cause:
Chiropractic is concerned with correcting the underlying cause of migraines, which is poor posture or spinal alignment, particularly in the neck.
Let me explain…
Your body is similar to a house in many ways. If the houses foundations are ‘off’ or begin to slip, it will cause issues throughout the house. The doors will jam, the walls will crack, and the roof will leak.
